Enrolling in this course is the first step to obtaining a real estate license. This course will cover basic real estate concepts, valuation, contracts and financing, rules, laws and ethics, property management, ownership, transfer of title, land use controls and math computations. Courses are typically 9 weeks held two evenings per week.

This written exam must be taken within one year of completing your pre-licensing class (Indiana.) Once your pre-licensing class is successfully completed, and you receive a passing score, you must affiliate your license with a real estate company within 120 days (Indiana) and within one year from exam date (Michigan).

Membership also into the local Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is required. To maintain your license, you are required by the state to complete approved continuing education courses each renewal year. The cost of these courses vary depending upon the ones you choose.
