
Cass County is located in the southwestern part of the lower peninsula, north of Indiana, and is traversed by US 12. The county contains 496 square miles and is the 10th smallest in the state. The county seat is Cassopolis. Cass County, with over 60 percent of its land in farms, ranks 15th in the state in agricultural receipts.
The service industry is an important component of the economy, though manufacturing is also important, particularly wood products, plastics, and heating and refrigeration equipment. Hunting, fishing, and boating are among the many outdoor recreation activities offered in the county.
