Cressy & Everett Interview by Fox 28, WNDU and WSBT Regarding Tax Credit Deadline

U.S. representative, Joe Donnelly (d) Indiana's 2nd District, contacted Cressy & Everett Real Estate on Monday, Sept. 28th asking for input and contacts to interview regarding the First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit.  "This ends on November 30th, 2009 and I just wanted to tell everybody that as of right now, that will be the end of the program," said Donnelly.  While there's a bill in the U.S. Congress to extent the tax credit, and Congressman Donnelly supports that bill, he adds, "what we know right now if that we have a definite deadline of November 30, 2009."

Managing Partner, Sue Cox (Ironwood Office) put Mr. Donnelly's office in touch with two Realtors, Laurie LaDow (Ironwood Office) and Kathy Large (Cleveland Road).  Ms. LaDow recently represented first time home buyers who were interviewed about the tax credit.  Cressy & Everett Real Estate has the details about the tax credit and who may qualify on this website, with a link to the tax form you use to file for the credit.  If you are a first time home buyer, and have not owned a home in the past three years, you may qualify.  Feel free to contact any Cressy & Everett Realtor to answer your questions, and to begin your home search.

From the time you have and accepted written offer on a home, to the closing table is averaging about 45 days.  The deadline to close on a home is November 30, 2009.   To be safe, you should have a written contract in place no later than October 15th to make the deadline and received up to $8,000 in a tax credit.
