About South Bend, Indiana back to top
The people who live and work here enjoy the benefits of being 90 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Chicago, 30 minutes from the beaches of Lake Michigan, and in the midst of a thriving community full of diverse business, educational, cultural and recreational opportunities.
Located in the heart of the Midwest, South Bend is the center of manufacturing, retailing, farming, professional and service businesses. In 1852, the Industrial era of South Bend began with the arrival from Ohio of Henry and Clement Studebaker, who founded the Studebaker firm, which attained international fame. Today, "Tippecanoe Place," the former Studebaker Mansion, is now an elegant restaurant. The mansion has been restored with many original features for you to tour after enjoying lunch or dinner.
The Studebaker National Museum features vehicles from the Studebaker Historic Vehicle Collection, including the carriage believed to be the one Abraham Lincoln rode to the theater the night he was shot. It's an exciting exhibit of national history in our automotive industry.
1995 marked the building of the College Football Hall of Fame, located downtown South Bend. South Bend is also home to the University of Notre Dame which is not only the largest employer in the area, but the most recognized feature of the community.

About Elkhart, Indiana back to top
Manufacturing remains the driving force for the local economy. The area is known for its entrepreneurial spirit, as a place where many people have started companies from scratch and guided them to become major employers and contributors to the community's welfare.
Although the recreational vehicle industry represents the single largest portion of the manufacturing sector, the Elkhart area offers a variety of production plants in such areas as pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter consumer drugs, electronic components, manufactured housing, plumbing valves and fittings, automotive goods, fabricated metals and is the "Band Instrument Capital of the World."
Elkhart County is also home of one of the largest Amish settlements in the United States, and there are many opportunities to enjoy and learn about the "plain people." Elkhart County offers something for everyone- from enjoying the rivers and lakes, to bargain hunting at Shipshewana, to finishing your Ph.D (or starting it!), to attending fairs and festivals with friends and family.
About Southwestern Michigan back to top
Southwestern Michigan consists of about 60 miles of Lake Michigan coastline, five rivers and more than 300 inland lakes in Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties. This area has more to offer than just shoreline appeal. The fruit trees and vegetable crops are thriving parts of the areas economy. The beautiful blooms in the springtime, the U-Pick farms in the summer and gorgeous colors of fall attract and delight visitors from all around.
From winery tours to bicycling tours, from wind-surfing to hang-gliding, from canoeing to crafting, the fun starts here. In between, there are art galleries and antiques, mushroom and game hunting, summer stock theater, Swedish bakeries, special occasion restaurants and neighborhood drive-ins (with car hops!) No matter what you enjoy, Southwestern Michigan most likely will suit you!
