National Take a Walk in the Park Day is the perfect excuse to explore all that your local parks have to offer, and South Bend is an ideal place to do just that. With an extensive collection of parks, green spaces, and outdoor attractions, you will have no shortage of options for enjoying the day in South Bend. The Howard Park Recreation Center, located onsite, will offer all of your favorite recreational activities in one fun location.

  3. Potawatomi Park – 500 S. Greenlawn Ave., South Bend
    The tree-lined, natural Potawatomi Park is a great spot for a walk, with trails, a track, playgrounds, and a performing arts pavilion. This is one of the most popular parks in the city and offers some unique attractions. You can visit the Potawatomi Zoo, explore the Muessel-Ellison Conservatory, splash in the Potawatomi Pool, or see a performance at the Chris Wilson Pavilion.

  4. Rum Village Park – 2626 S. Gertrude St., South Bend
    Head to Rum Village Park to explore 160 acres of rolling, natural woodland beauty, with mountain biking trails, hiking trails, and a nature center. Rum Village Park is also home to a dog park, perfect for taking your four-legged friend along on National Take a Walk in the Park Day.   5. Seitz Park – St. Joseph River at Washington St., South Bend
    Located near the St. Joseph River and historic University of Notre Dame campus, Seitz Park is a scenic place to enjoy a walk in the park. Seitz Park is also in the midst of a renovation, which will add even more attractions to this popular spot.

  6. St. Patrick's County Park – 50651 Laurel Rd., South Bend
    With 398 acres of beautiful, wooded trails, ponds, and natural spaces, St. Patrick's County Park is a great place to experience the outdoors. The park features a Freedom Memorial, and the famed Red Barn, which ranks as one of the largest barns in the country.
